Bronxial astma bolalar yoshidagi eng keng tarqalgan surunkali yuqumsiz kasalliklardan biri bo‘lib, maktab yoshidagi bolalar va o‘smirlarning 5–10 foizida hamda turli mamlakatlarda aholining 1–18 foizida uchraydi. Bolalarda astma simptomlarining tarqalishida dunyo bo‘yicha sezilarli farqlar mavjud bo‘lib, mamlakatlar o‘rtasidagi tafovut 13 martagacha yetishi mumkin. JSST baholariga ko‘ra, dunyoda 339 million kishi astmadan aziyat chekadi va ushbu kasallik sababli 461 000 ta o‘lim holati qayd etilgan. Kasalliklarni nazorat qilish va profilaktika markazlari ma’lumotlariga ko‘ra, maktab yoshidagi bolalarda bronxial astmaning umumiy iqtisodiy ta’siri yiliga taxminan 2 milliard dollarni tashkil etadi. Bu xarajatlarga dori-darmonlar, statsionar shifoxonalarga yotqizish, ambulator davolanish va shoshilinch tibbiy yordam kabi bevosita tibbiy xarajatlar, shuningdek bronxial astma xurujlari sababli bolalarning maktab qoldirishi tufayli ota-onalar mehnat unumdorligining pasayishi ham kiradi.Iqtiboslar
