ТРУДНОСТИ ПЕРЕВОДА КУЛЬТУРНО-СПЕЦИФИЧЕСКИХ ЕДИНИЦ В АНГЛИЙСКОМ И РУССКОМ ЯЗЫКАХ

Abstract

This article examines the difficulties of translating culture-specific units in the English and Russian languages within the framework of intercultural communication. Special attention is given to lexical units that reflect national and cultural peculiarities, traditions, ways of life, and value systems of native speakers. The paper analyzes the main problems arising in the translation of realia, non-equivalent vocabulary, phraseological units, and culturally marked expressions. The most common translation strategies aimed at preserving the semantic, pragmatic, and cultural content of the source text are considered. It is concluded that the adequate translation of culture-specific units plays an important role in achieving mutual understanding between representatives of different cultures.
