This article assesses the degree of soil contamination in areas adjacent to the M-41 highway (Tashkent–Termez direction). The study was conducted based on soil samples taken at distances of 0 m, 50 m, 100 m, 200 m, and 500 m from the highway. Concentrations of heavy metals (lead, cadmium, zinc, copper) and petroleum products were determined. The results showed that in the areas closest to the highway (0–50 m), the lead content exceeded the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) by 2.5–3 times, and petroleum products by 2 times. Significant contamination was observed up to 100–150 meters. The article provides recommendations on the environmental safety zone and protective measures along the highway.References
