Abstract

This article discusses the problems and concerns associated with the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), a widely used test for assessing the English language proficiency of non-native speakers. It highlights issues such as inconsistencies in test administration and scoring, limited availability of test dates, concerns about the content and structure of the exam, high costs, and the overemphasis on test scores. The article argues that addressing these issues is crucial to ensure fairness, accuracy, and transparency in evaluating language proficiency.
