MACROTOPONYMS AS THE HISTORICAL AND CURTURAL HERITAGE OF A PEOPLE

Abstract

This article examines macrotoponyms as an important part of the historical and cultural heritage of a people. The study analyzes the role of geographical names in preserving historical memory, reflecting ethnic and cultural processes, and revealing the historical development of society. Particular attention is paid to the macrotoponyms of Central Asia and their representation in historical sources and travel notes of nineteenth-century foreign travelers. The article concludes that macrotoponyms are important carriers of historical and cultural information.
