Farmatsevtik kimyoda biologik faol birikmalarni sintez qilish va ularning farmakologik xususiyatlarini o‘rganish dolzarb ilmiy yo‘nalishlardan biri hisoblanadi. Shiff asoslari (Schiff bases) tarkibida azometin (-CH=N-) guruhi tutuvchi organik birikmalar bo‘lib, ular farmatsevtik kimyo, koordinatsion kimyo va tibbiyotda keng qo‘llaniladi. Ushbu birikmalar antibakterial, antifungal, antivirus, antioksidant va o‘smaga qarshi faollikka ega bo‘lishi mumkinligi sababli ilmiy tadqiqotlarda alohida qiziqish uyg‘otmoqda.
