Abstract

This study analyzes the role of vaginal microbiota in the pathogenesis of female infertility and its impact on the success of assisted reproductive technologies (ART/IVF). A comprehensive review of clinical data from the last decade reveals that a depletion of Lactobacillus species (notably L. crispatus) and the presence of dysbiosis trigger an increase in pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, TNF-α). This inflammatory environment impairs endometrial receptivity and hinders embryo implantation. Evidence suggests that clinical pregnancy rates in women with dysbiosis are 1.5–2 times lower than those with normocenosis, with a significantly higher risk of early pregnancy loss. The study concludes that molecular-genetic screening (PCR, 16S rRNA) of the vaginal ecosystem is a high-value diagnostic tool for predicting IVF success. Furthermore, pre-IVF correction of the microbiota using probiotics and targeted therapy represents a promising strategy for improving reproductive outcomes.
