COLLOID-CHEMICAL BASES OF THE APPLICATION OF POLYMERIC STRUCTURANTS TO SOIL

This article investigates the colloid-chemical regularities of the interaction of water-soluble natural and synthetic polymeric structurants with soil dispersion systems. The mechanisms of adsorption of polymer macromolecules onto the surface of soil aluminosilicate minerals (montmorillonite, kaolinite, illite), specifically hydrogen bonds, electrostatic forces, and hydrophobic interactions, are analyzed. The conformational state of polymer chains and their effect on the electrokinetic ( -potential) and rheological properties of soil suspensions are considered. Studies show that the formation of soil aggregates under the influence of polymers occurs through coagulation and bridging mechanisms. The obtained results serve as a fundamental basis for designing highly effective polymer compositions to combat soil erosion and purposefully manage its structural-mechanical properties.
