ANALYTICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFECT OF LONG-TERM ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY ON A GROUP OF INTESTINAL BACTERIA

The gut microbiota is known to influence several factors, including antibiotics, and plays an important role in host health. However, due to the use of antibiotics, changes in the composition of microorganisms can harm the health of the host. These changes include a decrease in microbial diversity, changes in the functions of the microbiota, and the creation and reproduction of antibiotic-resistant strains that make them more susceptible to infections by pathogens such as Clostridioides difficile. Antibiotic resistance is a global crisis, and as the use of antibiotics continues to grow over time, there is a need to study their effects on the microbiota and human health. This presented review briefly discusses the negative effects of antibiotics on the gut microbiota and, consequently, on human health, and suggests alternative ways to use antibiotics.
