PREVENTION OF GASTRIC AND DUODENAL HORMONAL COMPLICATIONS IN THE TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH IDIOPATIC THROMBOCYTOPENIC PURPURE

Abstract
Glucocorticoid (GC) hormones are widely used in the pathogenetic treatment of ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura). However, their high-dose or long-term oral administration can cause serious gastrointestinal complications (acute gastritis, duodenitis, gastric and duodenal ulcers) and exacerbate existing chronic diseases. Against the background of thrombocytopenia, the vascular endothelium is deprived of its protection and becomes extremely fragile. The long-term effect of GC hormones leads to adrenal insufficiency, disruption of mucosal integrity, and consequently, bleeding from gastric ulcers
