This article presents a comprehensive comparative linguistic study of the category of tense in English and Uzbek languages. The research examines the ways tense is expressed in the grammatical systems of both languages, as well as their structural and semantic characteristics. It is emphasized that in English, tense is expressed through clearly defined grammatical forms, auxiliary verbs, and analytical constructions, whereas in Uzbek, tense is mainly expressed synthetically through affixation and is closely connected with context. The paper analyzes present, past, and future tense forms in both languages, highlighting their functional features and communicative roles in speech. Special attention is paid to continuous and perfect forms in English and their equivalents or partial equivalents in Uzbek.
