MIGRATION AND BELONGING IN 21ST-CENTURY BRITISH NOVELS

Abstrak

This article examines the representation of migration and belonging in 21st-century British novels. Contemporary British fiction increasingly foregrounds migrant experiences shaped by displacement, cultural hybridity, memory, and identity negotiation. Drawing on postcolonial theory, the article analyzes selected works by Zadie Smith, Monica Ali, and Mohsin Hamid. It argues that belonging is depicted not as a fixed condition but as a fluid and ongoing process influenced by language, social exclusion, and cultural memory.
