Alice Munro’s short fiction demonstrates recurring narrative patterns shaped by non-linear structures, varied narrative pacing, and flexible shifts in perspective and distance. Though her stories appear simple, they are rich in tension and contradiction. This paper examines Runaway, Passion, and Nettles through the lens of narratology, focusing on narrative time and focalization to better understand Munro’s distinctive storytelling techniques and style.
