ASTIONYM (CITY NAME) COMPONENT PROVERBS

Abstract

This scientific article analyzes the linguistic and cultural features of proverbs containing astionyms (city names). The semantic load of city names used in proverbs, as well as their historical, social, and ethnocultural significance, are examined. The study also explains how people’s worldview, values, and regional identity are reflected through astionyms. Based on examples from Uzbek folk proverbs, the level of imagery, stylistic role, and communicative functions of such units are identified. The research concludes that proverbs with astionym components represent an important linguistic manifestation of national culture.
