BIOECOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE COLORADO POTATO BEETLE (Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say) UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF KARAKALPAKSTAN AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CONTROL MEASURES

This article presents the results of studies on the distribution, bioecological characteristics, harmfulness, and effectiveness of biological and chemical control measures against the Colorado potato beetle Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say under the conditions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The research was conducted during 2023–2024 in potato agroecosystems of the Turtkul and Kegeyli districts. The developmental stages of the pest (egg, larva, and adult) were identified, and its seasonal activity and development were studied. It was established that high air temperature and low relative humidity significantly limited the population development of the beetle. The level of leaf damage reached 10–30% in Turtkul district and 10–20% in Kegeyli district. Among the tested chemical insecticides, “Fipronil Extra 20%” demonstrated the highest biological efficiency (82.0%), while “Targa Super 5%” showed 75.9% effectiveness. The biological control agent based on Beauveria tenella VD–85 strain provided 72.6% biological efficiency. The obtained results indicate that the integrated application of biological and chemical control methods is effective for suppressing Leptinotarsa decemlineata populations in potato agrocenoses.
