TRANSLATION FEATURES OF PROVERBS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

Abstract

This article presents a comparative analysis of the translation of proverbs in English and Uzbek. It examines the significance of equivalence, linguocultural adaptation, semantic accuracy, and pragmatic factors in proverb translation. The study analyzes literal, functional, and descriptive translation strategies through representative examples and identifies the similarities and differences between English and Uzbek proverbs. The findings demonstrate that preserving cultural identity and communicative effect is one of the key factors determining the quality and effectiveness of proverb translation.
