Abstract

This thesis examines the importance of developing academic writing skills among university students. Academic writing is an essential component of higher education because it enables students to express their ideas clearly, organize information logically, support arguments with reliable evidence, and follow the principles of academic integrity. The paper identifies the main difficulties students experience in academic writing, including limited academic vocabulary, weak text organization, grammatical errors, insufficient critical thinking, incorrect use of sources, and poor citation skills. It also presents effective approaches to developing academic writing competence, such as process-based instruction, critical reading, regular writing practice, teacher feedback, peer assessment, and the responsible use of digital technologies.
