The application of direct tillage to the practice of zero tillage in the sowing of intermediate crops is being studied. To do this, along with the creation of special seeders, it is necessary to create a design of compactors working in the compacted area. Ordinary rotary cushions are not effective when used in a compacted area. Based on this, taking into account the compaction of the soil, the design of a special knife softener was developed, samples were prepared and tested. The result is positive.
