The article analyzes the meaning of phraseological units expressing the category of feeling. Phraseologisms express the semantic characteristics of joy, sorrow, fear, anxiety, unease, and other emotional states. Furthermore, the emotional-expressive possibilities of phraseological units expressing feelings and their functional significance in speech are determined. The research results serve to reveal the ways in which the category of sensation is reflected in the language system.
