This article is dedicated to the comparative-semantic analysis of personal names of Central Asian peoples—Kazakhs, Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, Turkmens, Tajiks, and Karakalpaks. The lexical layers of anthroponymic systems historically formed under the influence of Turkic, Iranian, Arabic, and Mongolian linguistic substrates are examined. Particular attention is paid to semantic motivations in naming, the typology of nouns, and onomastic universals that unite the peoples of the region. The analysis allows for the identification of both general patterns of Central Asian anthroponymy and specific national features.
