DEVELOPING CORE LANGUAGE SKILLS

Abstrak

The development of core language skills — listening, speaking, reading, and writing — forms the foundation of effective communication and language proficiency. This paper explores integrated and skill-specific approaches to teaching core language skills in both first and second language learning contexts. Emphasis is placed on interactive methodologies, learner-centered instruction, and the role of cognitive, sociocultural, and technological factors in language acquisition. The study also examines the interdependence of receptive and productive skills and the importance of balanced instruction for long-term language competence. Recommendations are provided for educators seeking to foster these essential skills in diverse educational settings.
