Mazkur maqolada intensivlik va gradatsiya kategoriyalarining lingvistik tabiati, semantik mohiyati hamda o‘zaro munosabati tahlil qilinadi. Gradatsiya kategoriyasining darajalilik semantikasini ifodalovchi umumiy kategoriya sifatidagi o‘rni va intensivlikning ushbu tizimning yuqori segmentlarini aks ettiruvchi semantik-pragmatik hodisa ekanligi ilmiy jihatdan asoslanadi. Tadqiqotda J. Lyons, D. Bolinger, C. Kennedy, G. Lakoff, R. Langacker, A.V. Bondarko va boshqa olimlarning nazariy qarashlari asosida intensivlik va gradatsiyaning kognitiv, funksional-semantik hamda pragmatik xususiyatlari yoritiladi. Shuningdek, mazkur kategoriyalarning baholash, ekspressivlik va emotsionallik bilan aloqadorligi ochib beriladi. Ingliz va o‘zbek tillari materiallari asosida olib borilgan qiyosiy tahlil intensivlik va gradatsiyaning universal hamda milliy-madaniy jihatlarini aniqlash imkonini beradi. Tadqiqot natijalari intensivlik gradatsiyaga tayanuvchi, biroq semantik va pragmatik jihatdan nisbatan murakkabroq kategoriya ekanligini ko‘rsatadi.Iqtiboslar
