Language is a social phenomenon that constantly develops and changes. During its development, various historical changes occur in its phonetic system. This article discusses the nature of historical phonetic changes, the reasons for their occurrence, and the significance of phonetic and phonological regularities in language development. The study also analyzes phonetic processes such as assimilation, dissimilation, reduction, and metathesis, as well as the role of phonemes in distinguishing meanings.References
