Abstract

This article discusses the development of word meanings in the Uzbek language, the causes of semantic changes, and methods of semantic transfer. The processes of semantic broadening, narrowing, amelioration, and pejoration are explained. The study also analyzes metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche, and functional transfer through examples.
