Abstract

This article examines the significance of literary theory as an essential academic discipline in the study of literature and culture. Literary theory provides conceptual frameworks and methodological tools for analyzing literary texts, interpreting meanings, understanding cultural contexts, and evaluating artistic expression. The article discusses the historical development of literary theory, its major schools and approaches, its interdisciplinary connections, and its role in contemporary literary studies.
