Hantaviruses are rodent-borne zoonotic RNA viruses that cause severe diseases such as hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS). Although transmission to humans occurs mainly through rodent excreta, Andes hantavirus shows limited person-to-person transmission.References
