Abstract

This article analyzes the artistic devices used in Ernest Hemingway’s novella The Old Man and the Sea, one of the outstanding works of world literature. The importance of literary analysis in revealing the main idea of the work is demonstrated through the character of the old man. The study examines the role of literary devices such as metaphor, personification, antithesis, and simile in expressing the protagonist’s psychological state and the philosophical meaning of the work.
