THE PROBLEM OF CLASSIFYING FEMALE CHARACTERS IN KARAKALPAK MYTHOLOGY AND FOLK BELIEFS

Abstract

This article examines the problem of classifying female characters in Karakalpak mythology and folk beliefs. The study analyzes the formation of female images within the traditional worldview of the Karakalpak people and identifies their principal functions, symbolic meanings, and role in the mythological system. The paper argues for a comprehensive classification model based on the origin of the characters, their degree of sacralization, functional role, and cultural and historical context. The findings demonstrate that female characters serve as key bearers of spiritual values, historical memory, and the national identity of the Karakalpak people. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of the structure of Karakalpak mythology and the evolution of its traditional folk beliefs.
