Abstract

The catalytic reactions of acetylene and dimethyl ketone with ammonia for the synthesis of pyridine bases have been systematically studied. It was found that, depending on the nature of the starting reagents used, targeted syntheses of alkyl pyridines can be carried out. The basic principles of selection and preparation of active and selective catalysts for the synthesis of pyridine bases are proposed. Seven catalytic systems using metal oxides of variable valence have been developed. CCCP-20 is an effective catalyst for the synthesis of 2,4,6-trimethylpyridine from dimethyl ketone and ammonia. The catalyst selectively conducts the process, providing a moderate yield of 2,4,6-trimethylpyridine and operates at relatively low temperatures for a long time with constant activity.
