This article examines the themes of individualism and psychological transformation in Jack London’s Martin Eden, focusing on the protagonist’s internal evolution and his interactions with societal forces. Through a qualitative literary analysis, the study explores Martin Eden's psychological journey, using psychoanalytic theories to understand his development. The article highlights how London presents individualism as both empowering and destructive, ultimately leading to the protagonist’s alienation and tragic end. The study contextualizes Eden’s transformation within broader societal concerns about class, success, and artistic ambition. The research aims to shed light on the complex interplay between personal identity and external pressures in London’s critique of the capitalist social structure. Through Martin Eden, London critiques the limits of individualism, revealing the psychological consequences of pursuing personal fulfillment in a world that values conformity over originality.
