LINGUOCULTURAL ANALYSIS OF TITLES OF LITERARY WORKS IN THE ENGLISH AND KARAKALPAK LANGUAGES

This study explores the linguocultural characteristics of literary titles in the English and Karakalpak languages within a comparative framework. Literary titles are considered not merely as nominative units but as culturally marked linguistic structures that encode national worldview, historical memory, and aesthetic values. The research applies the IMRAD model and employs qualitative methods, including structural, semantic, and comparative analysis of selected literary works from both traditions. The findings reveal that English literary titles tend to demonstrate metaphorical density, syntactic compactness, and interpretive ambiguity, reflecting individualistic and symbolic tendencies of English literary culture. In contrast, Karakalpak titles are more culturally explicit and thematically transparent, often rooted in folklore, collective identity, and historical narratives. The study confirms that literary titles function as micro-texts shaped by linguistic structure and cultural context. The results contribute to linguocultural studies, comparative linguistics, and translation theory by highlighting the importance of cultural codes in literary naming practices.
