SOCIAL MEDIA AND STUDENT COMMUNICATION IN UZBEKISTAN: CURRENT USE AND PERSPECTIVES

Аннотация:

In recent years, social media has become one of the main platforms for communication among students in Uzbekistan. This paper explores how students use platforms such as Instagram and Telegram for both academic and everyday purposes, and what opportunities and risks this creates. Based on data on internet and social media penetration in the country, as well as studies of media literacy and digital education, the article argues that social media can support learning when its use is purposeful and accompanied by the development of critical thinking skills. Real-life examples of student practices are discussed, with special attention to how English has become a vital tool in online communication. The conclusion offers practical recommendations for teachers and universities.
