Annotatsiya

This article examines the main methods of teaching listening in English language learning, their effectiveness, and their contribution to the development of students’ communicative competence. Listening is one of the most important language skills because it contributes to the development of pronunciation, vocabulary, comprehension, and interaction skills. The article analyzes both traditional and modern approaches to teaching listening, including communicative and task-based approaches, the use of authentic materials, multimedia technologies, and interactive activities. Particular attention is paid to the difficulties learners encounter when processing spoken English, including rapid speech, unfamiliar vocabulary, pronunciation features, different accents, and psychological factors. The article also discusses the importance of pre-listening, while-listening, and post-listening activities and provides practical recommendations for improving listening instruction in educational settings.
