Аннотация

This comprehensive study systematically investigates the profound semantic changes occurring in modern English under the influence of digital communication. Unlike traditional semantic evolution, which develops gradually over centuries, digital platforms such as social media, instant messaging, and online forums accelerate semantic shifts, redefine existing words, and introduce new meanings. The research highlights how neologisms, abbreviations, emojis, memes, and hashtags reshape the semantic landscape of English, creating new layers of meaning that reflect cultural identity, generational divides, and pragmatic adaptation. Through discourse analysis of authentic online interactions, this study demonstrates that digital communication is not only a medium but also a powerful agent of semantic transformation.
