Abstract

This study focuses on the integration of linguacultural studies and cognitive linguistics, which are the leading directions of the anthropocentric paradigm. Based on Uzbek language materials, the article examines the cognitive nature of somatic phraseological units in conceptualizing and categorizing the world picture, using somatisms such as head, eye, heart/soul, hand, tongue and tooth. Drawing on the scientific views of prominent linguists, the mental projections of national-cultural codes, conceptual metaphors, and gestalt structures are thoroughly analyzed, and relevant conclusions are formulated.
