This article explores the poetic mastery of Sinclair Lewis through intertextual analysis in the context of literary continuity and innovation. The study examines precedent and recipient images to reveal how literary characters are transformed across texts and traditions. Particular attention is given to the intertextual connections between Carol Kennicott and Emma Bovary, Martin Arrowsmith and Nat Bumppo, as well as the satirical tradition reflected in Elmer Gantry. The article argues that Sinclair Lewis reinterprets classical literary models while creating original characters distinguished by psychological depth and artistic innovation.Библиографические ссылки
