The Republic of Karakalpakstan represents one of the most environmentally fragile regions in Central Asia. The region’s economic and social development has been profoundly affected by the ecological catastrophe of the Aral Sea, which has transformed fertile land into desert and devastated local livelihoods. This article offers an in-depth analysis of the environmental challenges facing Karakalpakstan, examining their origins, current implications, and future prospects for sustainable growth. Moreover, it explores the potential pathways for ecological restoration, economic diversification, and social adaptation. By integrating ecological concerns with socio-economic planning, the paper argues that Karakalpakstan can transition from crisis to resilience through a combination of scientific innovation, governmental support, and international cooperationDownloads
