Abstract

Congenital malformations (syn: anomaly or dysplasia) - characterised by deviation from normal anatomical development and from regular function. It is characterised by developmental delay, abnormal embryogenesis or both due to spontaneous genetic mutations - this occurs in most congenital malformations of the outer and middle ear - approximately 10% of cases.
