Abstract

This thesis focuses on a comparative study of phraseological units expressing the semantics of purpose and aspiration within directive and commissive speech acts, which is a significant topic in modern pragmalinguistics. The paper analyzes the pragmatic functions, illocutionary force, and the role of idioms in conveying the speaker's intention in English and Uzbek through contextual examples.
