This article is about that known as the father of English literature, Jeffrey Chaucer is the greatest English poet of the Middle Ages. He was the first poet to be buried in the Poets Corner in Westminster Abbey. Although he became famous throughout his life as a writer, philosopher, chemist, and astronomer, Chaucer continued to be active in the civil service as an official, a member of the judiciary, and a diplomat.
