STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING GRAMMAR IN CONTEXT

This study explores effective strategies for teaching grammar in context, emphasizing the integration of grammatical forms within meaningful communication. Traditional grammar instruction often isolates rules, which may hinder learners’ ability to use language naturally. In contrast, contextualized grammar teaching enhances both accuracy and communicative competence. The study reviews literature on communicative language teaching, task-based learning, and guided discovery, highlighting the benefits of authentic materials, technology integration, and collaborative activities. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research examines the impact of contextualized grammar instruction on intermediate-level English learners, analyzing pre- and post-test results, classroom observations, and student interviews. Findings suggest that teaching grammar in context increases learner engagement, fluency, and retention while fostering confidence in real-life communication. The study underscores the importance of balancing form-focused instruction with communicative practice for effective language learning.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TASK-BASED LANGUAGE TEACHING IN ENHANCING STUDENT MOTIVATION

This thesis investigates the effectiveness of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in enhancing student motivation in second language learning. The study explores how task-based instruction, which emphasizes meaningful communication and real-life tasks, influences learners’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation compared to traditional grammar-focused teaching. Using a mixed-method approach involving questionnaires, classroom observations, and interviews, data were collected from sixty intermediate-level ESL students over eight weeks. The findings reveal that TBLT significantly increases learners’ motivation, engagement, and confidence in using the target language. Students in the task-based environment reported higher enjoyment and greater willingness to communicate. The results demonstrate that authentic, collaborative, and learner-centered tasks promote sustained motivation and positive learning attitudes. The study concludes that TBLT is an effective pedagogical approach for motivating language learners and recommends its wider integration into language education programs.

DIGITAL STORY TELLING AS A METHOD FOR TEACHING ENGLISH

Digital story telling is a modern and effective method used in teaching English, combining traditional storytelling techniques with digital tools such as videos, images, audio recordings, and interactive media. This approach engages students actively, enhances their language skills, and fosters creativity and critical thinking. By integrating technology into language learning, teachers can create more dynamic and interactive lessons that cater to different learning styles. Digital story telling encourages students to construct narratives, express ideas clearly, and practice vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation in meaningful contexts. It also promotes collaboration and communication among students, as they often work in groups to create digital stories. This method is particularly significant in the  classroom, where digital literacy is as important as language proficiency. Research shows that students who participate in digital story telling activities demonstrate improved motivation, retention, and overall language competence. Thus, digital story telling is not only a tool for language acquisition but also a way to prepare students for a digital and interconnected world.
