LEXICAL BORROWINGS FROM ENGLISH INTO THE UZBEK LANGUAGE: A LINGUISTIC AND SOCIOCULTURAL PERSPECTIVE
Abstrak
Lexical borrowing serves as a crucial process in the evolution of languages, particularly in the era of globalization. This study explores how English terms have been incorporated into the Uzbek language by examining historical patterns, adaptation methods, semantic changes, and sociolinguistic impacts. It assesses the sectors most affected by English vocabulary, such as media, education, and technology, and analyzes the responses from governmental and academic bodies regarding language planning. The paper concludes with suggestions aimed at achieving a balance between modernization and the preservation of linguistic heritage.
