Metabolik sindrom zamonaviy tibbiyotda keng tarqalgan metabolik buzilishlar majmuasi bo‘lib, uning rivojlanishida endokrin tizim, xususan buyrak usti bezlarining funksional holati muhim o‘rin tutadi. Ushbu tadqiqot metabolik sindrom sharoitida buyrak usti bezining morfologik tuzilishi va funksional holatidagi o‘zgarishlarni eksperimental tahlil qilishga qaratilgan. Tadqiqot davomida yuqori kaloriyali parhez yordamida modellashtirilgan metabolik sindromli oq kalamushlarda buyrak usti bezining morfometrik va gistologik o‘zgarishlari o‘rganildi. Gistologik tekshiruvlar natijasida buyrak usti bezining po‘stloq qavatida, ayniqsa zona fasciculata qismida hujayralar gipertrofiyasi, lipid vakuolizatsiyasi hamda perivaskulyar shish kabi o‘zgarishlar kuzatildi. Bundan tashqari, adrenal korteksda gormonal disbalans bilan bog‘liq proliferativ va apoptotik jarayonlar o‘rtasidagi muvozanat buzilganligi qayd etildi. Qon plazmasida kortikosteron darajasining ortishi kuzatilgan morfologik o‘zgarishlar bilan o‘zaro bog‘liqligi aniqlanib, gipotalamus–gipofiz–buyrak usti bezi o‘qining faollashuvi metabolik sindrom patogenezida muhim rol o‘ynashi ko‘rsatildi. Olingan natijalar metabolik sindrom rivojlanishida buyrak usti bezining morfofunksional qayta qurilishi muhim patogenetik mexanizm ekanligini tasdiqlaydi.
